The Algerian international goalkeeper, Luca Zidane, suffered a worrying injury during the match that brought his team, Granada, against its neighbor Almeria, on Sunday, in the Spanish Second Division competitions.
In a scene that caused panic among the Algerian fans, the son of French football legend, Zinedine Zidane, was forced to leave the field in the last minutes of the match, after suffering a strong impact on the head.
According to Spanish press reports, the incident occurred in the 87th minute of the second half, following a violent collision with Almeria striker “Nasi” or “Thalis”, where the “Desert Warriors” goalkeeper suddenly fell to the field.
The accident led to the match being stopped immediately due to the intervention of medical teams who rushed to his aid. The Spanish newspaper “Marca” confirmed that Luca Zidane left the field suffering from a clear state of “vertigo”, but he was able to leave the green rectangle walking on his feet, accompanied by doctors, amid warm applause from the “Los Carmenes” fans.
This emergency development has raised a state of extreme anxiety in the Algerian sports community, which is witnessing the countdown to the start of the 2026 World Cup, as the “Greens” are scheduled to play against Argentina in only about 50 days.
Luca Zidane (25 years old) is considered the main pillar in the defensive plans of coach Vladimir Petkovic, who places his trust in him as the team’s first goalkeeper in the global forum.
What is interesting and disturbing is that the other goalkeeper for the Greens, Mandria, also suffered a dislocation at the shoulder level, which makes his participation in the World Cup unlikely.
