Havana/The renowned Brazilian singer-songwriter Chico Buarque is in Havana this Wednesday, 34 years after his previous visit, invited by his colleague Silvio Rodríguez, one of the founders of the Nueva Trova Cubana movement, with whom he will record a song.
“He came to record a song with us,” says Rodríguez’s Segunda Cita blog about Buarque’s visit.
He adds that both artists, friends for more than five decades, will record a new version of the song I Dream of Snakes, considered a classic by the Cuban singer-songwriter, of which the Brazilian artist had already translated into Portuguese and recorded other songs.

And he announces that the track will be available soon on all music platforms.
The note points out that Buarque’s visit “strengthens the ties between two central names in Latin American song, historically linked by aesthetic affinities and political commitment on the continent.”
The recording began at the oja studios, with the participation of musicians Niurka Gonzales on flute, Jorge Reyes on double bass, Malva Rodríguez on piano, Oliver Valdés on drums and arrangements by Jorge Aragón.
