De Roche, Lewis top UTT aerobathon burn out

Le­ston De Roche and Dana Lewis copped the open ti­tles when the fourth an­nu­al Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) Na­tion­al Aer­o­bathon pow­ered by KFC took place at the Na­tion­al Cy­cling Cen­tre in Bal­main, Cou­va, on Sun­day.

In the men’s Open cat­e­go­ry, De Roche won with a time of one hour, four min­utes and 31.3 sec­onds, with Ger­ard Richards a dis­tant sec­ond-place fin­ish­er with a time of one hour and 33 sec­onds, while Zion Nicholas took the third spot in one hour and 14.1 sec­onds, fol­lowed by Jeron Hac­ck­etr and Dar­ius George in the fourth and fifth spots, re­spec­tive­ly.

In the women’s Open, Lewis emerged as the win­ner in one hour, four min­utes and 51.8 sec­onds, with Falo­mi Mar­cano sec­ond in one hour, three min­utes, 26.9 sec­onds, and Anis­cha Ma­haraj-Sookoo third, in one hour, three min­utes, 11.9 sec­onds.

The aer­o­bathon brought to­geth­er fit­ness en­thu­si­asts, fam­i­lies, and the wider com­mu­ni­ty for an evening ded­i­cat­ed to move­ment, well­ness, and con­nec­tion.

The event came on the heels of the sold-out in­au­gur­al KFC Colonel’s 5K and 1K Race held on April 11, in­volv­ing UTT, which fur­ther re­in­forced the part­ner­ship and en­cour­aged thou­sands of par­tic­i­pants to em­brace fit­ness, al­so sup­port­ing the KFC Har­vest Pro­gramme, which helps nour­ish vul­ner­a­ble com­mu­ni­ties across the coun­try.

This year’s aer­o­bathon al­so placed spe­cial em­pha­sis on women in sport and well­ness, sup­port­ed by the T&T Olympic Com­mit­tee (T&TOC), which fea­tured an en­hanced well­ness ex­pe­ri­ence, in­clud­ing a mas­sage re­cov­ery cor­ner avail­able to all par­tic­i­pants.

Re­turn­ing part­ners for the event in­clud­ed Nestlé Trinidad and To­ba­go, Guilt­less Yo­ghurt, and Cen­tral Ath­let­ic Club, along­side 103.1FM, which re­turned as the of­fi­cial ra­dio part­ner.
