A man was found shot dead along a roadway off Toco Road in Sangre Grande on Monday night.
Police said the report was made around 9.50 p.m. by a 50-year-old man of Sangre Grande, who told officers that he had left his home around 7 p.m. and returned shortly after 8 p.m.
While driving back into the roadway near his home, the man reportedly noticed something lying on the road. He drove past, went home to retrieve a torchlight, and returned to investigate.
It was then that he found the body of a man lying near the roadway and went to the Sangre Grande Police Station to make a report.
Officers from the Eastern Divisional Task Force and Sangre Grande CID accompanied the informant back to the scene, where they found the body of a man of East Indian descent with gunshot wounds to the head.
Police described the victim as slim-built, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, brown in complexion, with short hair. He was dressed in a dark blue T-shirt over a white vest, blue three-quarter pants, and had a blue band around his left ankle.
The body was removed to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination and efforts to identify the victim.
