Senior Pastor of Bahamas Harvest Church Mario Moxey has been appointed as the new president of the Bahamas Christian Council.
Moxey will serve a term from 2026 to 2029.
In a statement from the Christian Council, Moxey called the appointment a privilege, while declaring that the council will embark on a “clear and compelling” mandate in the new term dubbed “One Voice, One Church, One Nation.”
“It is both a privilege and a calling to serve God by serving the people of The Bahamas, and in particular the Christian Churches that span our nation,” Moxey said.
“The church represents the largest block of citizenry across every sector of society, with approximately 90 percent of our population identifying as Christian. This is not merely a statistic, it is a responsibility.”
The new mandate speaks to the alignment of the church’s moral authority, promising to maintain consistency, clarity and conviction on issues plaguing The Bahamas.
It also emphasizes the importance of unity across denominations, traditions and other expressions of faith.
“As the church is unified, it becomes a stabilizing force that fosters healing, promotes righteousness, and strengthens the social fabric of The Bahamas,” the statement read.
Moxey said that the church is not a minority voice fighting to be heard, but instead is a majority voice that must position itself to offer spiritual leadership, moral clarity and a renewed sense of purpose for our people.
Moxey previously served as first vice president.
He succeeds former Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander who was elected for a second term in 2023.
The extended leadership team includes Bishop Woodley Thompson, first vice president; Reverend Carla Culmer, second vice president; Reverend Roderick Bain, third vice president; and Bishop Deanza Cunningham, fourth vice president.
The council also announced its newly installed executive officers, Apostle Phalmon Ferguson; Dr. Clifford Smith; Bishop Ronald Campbell; and Pastor Diana Francis.
“This leadership team reflects the council’s commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and unified representation across the body of Christ in The Bahamas,” the statement read.
“As the Bahamas Christian Council moves forward under this new leadership, its focus remains steadfast: to strengthen the Church’s collective witness, engage national issues with wisdom and grace, and serve as a unifying moral voice for the nation.”
