Today, Monday, the final results of the national polio vaccination campaign were presented, which managed to cover 95 percent of the target group.
In this context, the Sub-Director of Vaccination Programs at the Ministry of Health, Al-Eid Youssef, explained that the “excellent results” achieved by this national campaign are “a positive indicator that reflects broad mobilization and a great response by parents who contributed to strengthening the collective immunity of children, considering vaccination a basic pillar for protecting public health.”
In this regard, he stated that the first phase of the campaign, which took place between November 30 and December 4, 2025, recorded outstanding coverage rates of 95 percent, while in its second phase (December 21-30) it reached 96 percent. As for the third phase (January 25 to February 5, 2026), it achieved coverage estimated at 94 percent.
He pointed out, in the same context, that the Ministry of Health had allocated “25,000 members of the health sector and more than 7,000 vaccination centers across the nation’s states, in addition to mobile medical teams, especially in the states of the Far South,” for this campaign, in order to “ensure access to all targeted children between the ages of two months and five years.”
For his part, Director of Prevention and Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Jamal Fourar, praised the success of this national campaign aimed at “strengthening collective immunity in children,” highlighting the importance of using modern vaccines to keep pace with developments in the global health situation.
In turn, representatives of international bodies in Algeria, such as UNICEF and World Health Organization, appreciated the “success” of this national campaign, as they considered that “its positive results reflect Algeria’s keenness to promote and protect childhood.”
