Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis warned voters in Central and South Andros last night that if they vote for the Free National Movement (FNM), the country will regress instead of moving forward.
“They want to stop increases in the minimum wage, and they want to rightsize the public service,” Davis said during a PLP rally in Central and South Andros.
“Now y’all know what rightsize means. Last time the FNM got into office, they fired 2,500 public service workers, and they celebrated putting 2,500 Bahamian families into hardship. And now they want to come back and do it all over again.
“You think a man who can’t even honor the previous prime ministers in his own party are going to care about the rest of you?”
Davis said these are serious times that require serious leadership.
“We have plans for national renewal, they want a national lottery,” he said.
“A national lottery. They want to turn the treasury into a numbers house while their rich friends secretly pocket the profits.
“In 2026, with technology changing everything, with all the new opportunities for countries like ours, the best idea they can come up with depends on tens of thousands of Bahamians losing money every week?
“And the example they pointed to as a model is famous for corruption and fraud. You can’t make this up.”
Davis said the party’s candidate for Central and South Andros, Leon Lundy, can deliver for Androsians.
“When you mark your X for Leon Lundy, you are voting for a new clinic,” Davis said.
“You are voting for a hydroponic farm that feeds your family. You are voting for a sports facility for your children. You are voting for the new city of Andros.”
He encouraged swing voters or disgruntled FNMs to join the party.
“The PLP is a big tent with room for every Bahamian who wants to build this country,” he said.
“And to those of y’all who don’t wear party colors, who vote based on what’s actually delivered: I respect that.
“All I ask of you is to look at our record, look at the Blueprint Tracker, look at the investments, the jobs, the airports, the clinics, the city of Andros that’s coming, and decide for yourselves. It doesn’t matter what color shirt you wore in the past. We respectfully ask you to mark your X for progress.”
