The Dominica Air and Sea Ports Authority (DASPA) has announced the temporary suspension of operations at the Woodbridge Bay Port and Portsmouth Port on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The closure will facilitate a remembrance ceremony in honor of the late Ian Pinard, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and General Manager of DASPA.
“Regular port operations will resume immediately following the gathering,” the announcement stated.
The statement concluded, “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.”
Pinard’s legacy extends beyond his leadership at DASPA. From his early involvement in public life as Parliamentary Representative for the Soufrière Constituency, he demonstrated a genuine passion for improving the lives of his constituents and maintaining a strong connection with his community.
He later served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education and as Minister for Public Works, carrying out his responsibilities with focus and discipline. His contributions in Parliament and Cabinet helped shape key areas of national development, particularly in infrastructure and community advancement.
