Political scientist Ermal Hasimja has commented on the recent clashes within the Socialist Party between Edi Rama and former minister and deputy Elisa Spiropali, whom the head of the government has warned that he will expel from the party due to her public attitudes, as well as the absence in the session for the immunity of Belinda Balluku.
Hasimja emphasized that her critical stance within the majority should be appreciated, as confronting the prime minister requires courage.
“This kind of attitude of Spiropali is something that should be appreciated and I think it is good for the Socialist Party. And let’s not forget something, to stand up to the Prime Minister of Albania today requires a lot of courage”. he said.
Further, Hasimja recalled the departures of other members from the SP, where he said that they were “punished”, but they left with the philosophy that ‘my party punished me and the party lives’, while Spiropali is doing the opposite.
Ermal Hasimja: I see Spiropali and Braçe in the same logic. Braçe has a slightly earlier CV for the “dissident”, as far as the internal dissidence in the SP can be, and we see where the limits of this dissidence are.
In the case of Spiropal, if this warning about the exclusion from the group will materialize in the following days in any form, but in absolute value, if you judge it, this kind of attitude of Spiropal is something that should be appreciated and I think it is good for the Socialist Party. And let’s not forget something else, to stand up to the Prime Minister of Albania today requires a lot of courage.
