Moscow (Russia) April 28, 2026 (SPS) – Today, Tuesday, a Sahrawi delegation headed by Brother Mohamed Yaslem Besset, in his capacity as Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polisario Front, met with a Russian delegation headed by Alexander Nikolayevich, a member of the Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and a leader in the “Just Russia – for Truth” bloc.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the international forum, focused on the struggle of the Sahrawi people against colonialism and the Moroccan invasion and the historical positions of Russia, especially in the deliberations of the Security Council.
The head of the Sahrawi delegation thanked the party for its honorable position on the Sahrawi issue and for the invitation extended to the Polisario Front to attend the forum. He also expressed the Sahrawi party’s satisfaction with the position of the Russian Federation in support of international legitimacy and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
In the same context, the Sahrawi official appreciated the initiative to establish the International Forum Sovintern, which was supervised by the Just Russia Party, stressing the need to expand participation to include all progressive forces and movements that oppose colonialism in all its forms and exclude parties that are agents of colonialism and oppressive regimes for peoples.
For its part, the party thanked the participation of the Sahrawi delegation and expressed its readiness to continue working to help peoples in their struggle against colonialism and foreign intervention.
The party also expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Polisario Front in order to achieve the goals of the Sovintern Forum to include the largest number of progressive political parties, especially in Africa.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Sahrawi delegation extended an invitation to the Russian party to visit Sahrawi refugee camps and Sahrawi state institutions to see first-hand the struggle of the Sahrawi people for freedom and independence.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Salem Mohamed Fadel, representative of the Polisario Front in the Russian Federation, and Al-Saleh Nafi, director of the Sahrawi Press Agency.
The “Just Russia” party is one of the five parliamentary parties in the Russian Federation. It is ranked third in terms of the number of seats in the Duma (Russian Parliament), and has excellent relations with many countries and movements against colonialism and Western hegemony. (SPA)
