Member of the Democratic Party in the Municipal Council of Tirana Ilda Zhulali commented on the internal clashes in the Socialist Party, focusing on the position of former Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali and her relations with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Invited to the show “Studio24” on News24, Zhulali said that Spiropali is appearing as a figure who is facing not only the prime minister, but also the former deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku.
According to her, Balluku with her power has managed to blackmail Rama and block Albania’s EU membership process.
“Ms. Spiropali’s reaction to me deserves courage, she faced not only Edi Rama, but also Belinda Balluku. Let’s not forget that Balluku’s power is so strong that she managed to blackmail Edi Rama and block Albania’s EU membership process. We know that she has appointed a number of ministers, so today Spiropali faces these two superpowers”. she said.
According to her, there is no internal democracy within the Socialist Party, while recent developments may indicate the birth of a new opposition axis to the prime minister.
“So if Edi Rama can show fatigue that he will not deal with internal affairs and there is another deputy who is Belinda, and today Elisa has faced both of them. There is no democracy in the SP. But we will see if this will create an opposing pole with Edi Rama… This is something to be expected and it is not the first time…”she said on the show “Studio24” on News24.
