A 29-year-old Miami woman, Denisha Delancy, was killed in Sint Maarten during what authorities believe was a targeted hit on a Trinidadian businessman she had met while on vacation.
The double shooting occurred on March 2 after the two left a nightclub and were ambushed in their vehicle on Arlet Peters Road. Both Delancy and Quincy Damon Sylvester, identifeid in news reports as a Trinidadian national, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said surveillance footage from the nightclub showed unidentified individuals tracking Sylvester prior to the shooting, indicating the attack was premeditated. Delancy, who had no known criminal connections, was likely an unintended victim caught in the crossfire.
According to news reports, authorities have arrested a Trinidadian national, identified as A.H., on March 4, but the main suspect and others involved remain at large as investigations continue.
Delancy had traveled to Sint Maarten with her sister and friends for a birthday celebration, enjoying time at the beach and local nightclubs before the tragedy. Sylvester reportedly had a PVC pipe business.
The Sint Maarten Major Crimes Team reclassified the incident from a traffic accident to a double homicide, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
