Although the mother of the minor, 14 years old, recognizes that her son’s action was not correct and does not justify it, she also He told what the student would have been suffering at the educational center who, he assures, has not acted either on the issue of bullying or providing support to his son who has some conditions.

The woman, who requested that her identity be protected, commented that before the incident occurred, which was recorded on video on Tuesday, April 21, she had alerted the school that her son was suffering bullying, However, it was not until after what happened that she learned everything that the eighth-grade student would have experienced, who, she said, has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), 2% autism and dyslexia, conditions for which, she says, the school has not provided support.

Until a few weeks ago they requested the student’s file, he says.

    Assault, attacks and threats

The video that circulated on social networks shows how the student demands that another student return something. While this is happening, another schoolboy arrives and hits him behind the head. At that moment, the voices of other people are heard saying: “Hit him, hit him!”, so that the boy who hit him from behind continues hitting him; That’s when the apparent victim of bullying He turns around and pulls a knife out of the back of his pants. At that moment, he walks behind the other young man who ran after the recommendation of those present. The video that went viral on the Internet does not show what else happened.

The mother commented that what her son was demanding was ¢8,500 that had been stolen from him; Furthermore, he explained that he carried the knife because he took it to Industrial Arts classes so he could strip cables. He said that he is surprised how the educational center did not realize that his son entered with the knife.

The knife, he says, is part of a collection of his son’s manga objects.

The woman, who initially narrated what happened to the channel TV Sur Pérez Zeledóntold The Nation that she He already had suspicions that something was happening to his son. He states that since February he did not want to go to school and returned home saying that there were no classes. Then, the counselor called her because the student had many absences.

“When I addressed the situation at home, he told me that two classmates, plus other boys from other sections, were bothering him. I made an appointment with the counselor to tell her what my son told me. I told him about two names, he said he was going to address the situation. This was at the end of February and beginning of March. After that he didn’t tell me anything. From there, from the school, I don’t notice anything else…until Tuesday when the management called me telling me that they were holding him,” said the mother.

According to the woman, when she went to school she found out what happened and was later notified that her son was suspended for 10 days and that they would inform her how the process was progressing. After this she went to the National Children’s Trust (PANI) “on her own initiative to give a statement and report the school.”

“When my son talks to the psychologist is when he opens up,” the mother added.

The minor told PANI, says the mother, that since last year he has suffered physical and emotional attacks that he had not expressed because apparently they had threatened to kill him and they told him that they would also harm his family if he spoke, because the alleged attackers “had the mob on their side.”

“With the psychologist he said that They have beaten him and assaulted him several times, and older students charge a toll within the school. Besides, They burned him with a cigarette and cut his ankle with the edge of a knife.”, he detailed.

According to the mother, these are the injuries that the alleged attackers did to her son. One is the burn with a cigarette and the other is the cut with the edge of a knife.

What was said by the student related to the toll collection to travel through the corridors of the Unesco High School had already been revealed to The Nation by another mother, who assured that on April 7 they were sent a circular in which the director Henry Araya Orozco invites parents to talk with their children about the importance of a healthy coexistence and that, if they know that the charges occur, that the guide teacher and counselors be informed. “My son said that he was tired and that he is not an idiot. He no longer wanted to go to school. I feel that the institution is addressing the situation poorly, one does not know what the protocols themselves are like,” the mother added.

After the incident, the school reported what happened to the Juvenile Criminal Prosecutor’s Office. The mother was called and is now waiting to find out what continues in the process.

“I do not justify what my son did. I know that my son made a mistake. I hope it is resolved in the best way. May this serve as an experience. We are supporting my son a lot, we are a united family with principles, we are here to support him. He made a mistake but we have to see what’s behind it”, he concluded.

The Nation asked the MEP if they were aware that this student suffered bullyinga topic that another mother had commented to this medium; However, as of the closing of this article, no response was obtained.
