Sustainable funds in Switzerland total CHF1.3 trillion.
Keystone-SDA
Sustainable funds in Switzerland have reached a record level of assets. A total of CHF1,363 billion ($1,643 billion) is currently invested in sustainable funds. This is 11% more than last year, according to a study by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Assets have grown significantly over the past ten years. In 2016, only CHF99 billion was invested in sustainable funds. By 2024, this figure had risen to CHF1,326 billion, before falling again for the first time last year.
However, this year’s increase is primarily attributable to capital gains. Hardly any new investor capital flowed into sustainable funds.
The range of products on offer is also shrinking: the number of sustainable funds fell from 2,038 to 1,900 within a year. This is due, among other things, to fund closures and stricter regulations on fund names.
