NEW-NICKERIE — The Nickerie Traffic Enforcement Team has seized a modified scooter on Westkanaalstraat in Nickerie. The carriage, which had been illegally converted for racing purposes, was driven by seventeen-year-old BA
The officers tracked him down during a regular surveillance. When inspecting the scooter it became clear that it was equipped with a specially modified engine and various modified parts.
Due to the violations found and the technical changes, the police immediately confiscated the scooter. The carriage was taken to the police station and will be subjected to a re-inspection to determine its exact technical condition.
The police urge moped and scooter riders, as well as parents and caregivers, not to modify their vehicles illegally. “These types of adjustments often pose serious safety risks for both the driver and other road users,” it warns. The police say they will continue the check on souped-up two-wheelers in the district.
