On Oct. 28, shortly before noon, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu received a request for a non-maritime emergency medical services transport for the two patients at Kwajalein Atoll experiencing medical emergencies.

USCG said the on-duty flight surgeon recommended the woman and man reach a higher level of care. Watchstanders then established regular communications with the hospital.

At 8:40 p.m., an HC-130 Hercules crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point picked up the pair and safely transferred them to medical personnel at Queen’s Medical Center.

The Coast Guard said the aircrew had previously been deployed to Guam to deliver relief supplies after Super Typhoon Champi.
