Authorities have issued a response regarding the case of a Kampong Speu man who appealed to Senate President Hun Sen for help after he was accused of various crimes following his reporting of illegal drug use.
The victim’s family had earlier appealed to the lawyer for Senate President Hun Sen to help them seek justice.
The Kampong Speu Provincial Police Department stated in response on Wednesday to the dissemination of false information through the media and social media platforms regarding the case.
The Provincial Police Headquarters stated it has sent a task force of anti-drug experts from the Provincial Police Headquarters, Samrong Tong District Police Headquarters, and the Chief of the Police of the Normal commune, in cooperation with the local authorities of Prey Kanto village, to meet with Hok Khema, 46, who claims he was victimised after reporting illegal drug use to authorities.
During the meeting with the police, local authorities asked Mr Hok to continue to cooperate and provide information to the police and other authorities, to identify drug dealers or users without fear or concern for his safety.
