Organizers of the protest for Arlinda’s case: Politicians are not welcome

The Collective for Feminist Thought and Action has announced a 24-hour ultimatum to the institutions of Kosovo, demanding the initiation of investigations and the dismissal of officials who, according to the organization, are responsible for the failures in the protection of Arlinda Zekaj.
The ultimatum will be made public in the protest that will be held today, from 16:00, in “Zahir Pajaziti” square in Pristina, after the murder of Arlinda Zekaj.
In the published call, the Collective demands that women’s safety and life be treated as an urgent national issue, while femicide receives the appropriate institutional attention and response.
“Revolted, we give 24 hours to the institutions to start with dismissals and investigations of the officials who sent Arlinda to murder with their own hands”, the call says.
The organization has also announced that representatives of parliamentary political parties are not welcome at the protest. According to the Collective, the opposition is related to what it qualifies as an attempt by the parties to politically exploit the killing of women.
“The revolt is ours, and it is directed against all of you. We ask you to act, not to seize our popular voice”, the reaction says.
The collective has called on the citizens to join the protest and continue the mobilization in the following days, demanding justice for Arlinda Zekajn and responsibility from the institutions for the protection of women from violence.
The protest will start at 16:00 in “Zahir Pajaziti” square in Prishtina, from where the organizers have warned of mobilization in front of the country’s institutions.
