SAN MARINO – TOMORROW-Motus Liberi claims its participation in the public evening organized by the “I Capi Famiglia” Committee on the referendum relating to the Association Agreement with the European Union. In a note released on October 24, the movement thanks the organizers for the invitation and underlines that it was the only political force present in Parliament to participate in the meeting, despite the invitation having been extended to all parties and movements.
According to DOMANI-Motus Liberi, the appointment represented an opportunity to deal directly with citizens, clarify their position on the agreement and respond to doubts and perplexities. The movement also illustrated how it would deal with a dossier that it considers crucial for the future of the Republic.
The note also contains a criticism of the Government’s actions, accused of having handled the issue with “worrying superficiality”, without an adequate strategic vision or in-depth planning of the economic and social consequences of the agreement. According to the movement, there was also a lack of a concrete plan to prepare the country for the changes linked to the association with the European Union.
TOMORROW-Motus Liberi specifies that the discussion should not be reduced to a contrast between those in favor of and against Europe, but focus on the development prospects of San Marino, on the necessary guarantees and on the protection of national interests.
The movement accuses the majority of not having transformed what it defines as a historical passage into a clear and shared project for the future of the country. Hence the confirmation of support for citizens’ right to be informed and involved, also through the referendum tool.
“The future of San Marino cannot be decided by simply asking citizens to trust. It must be built by putting them in a position to know, understand and choose”, concludes the note from DOMANI-Motus Liberi.
