In high tones and with political confrontations that “lit fires” in the studio, the third major poll of the OMEGA Channel was broadcast on Friday night (24/04), in the context of the show “OMEGA Democracy”, in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
During the initial discussion, it didn’t take long for tension to arise between the George Loukaidis and her Irini Charalambidoufocusing on AKEL’s attitude towards Alma and Odysseus Michaelidis.
Mr. Loukaidis argued that AKEL, when it refers to Alma, is simply pointing out the positions that the party itself proclaims, typically stating that “it is in favor of NATO and closer to DISY in the economy”.
This position provoked the strong reaction of Mrs. Charalambidou, who brought the Presidential elections of 2023 back to the fore, leaving spikes for AKEL’s choices in that period, with the result that the confrontation escalated.
Charalambidou: “It is not Odysseus who chose a member of the Political Bureau of DISY to put him as a candidate for President”
Loukaidis: “These are tales of Halima”
Charalambidou: “This was also confirmed by Mr. Pamboridis”
Loukaidis: “You changed party, it doesn’t make us happy, it saddens us”
Charalambidou: “You supported a member of the Political Bureau of DISY and you had no problem”
Loukaidis: “Irini’s behavior shows ingratitude – AKEL made a decision and supported Mavroyiannis”
Charalambidou: “And Mavroyiannis was Anastasiadis’ negotiator. I would not support a man of Anastasiades”
Loukaidis: “Saturday night had to be done to support Mavroyiannis”
Charalambidou: “I supported Mr. Dimitriadis, Mr. Loukaidis”
Afterwards, the journalist Sotiris Paroutis asked Mr. Loukaidis the question whether AKEL could support Irini Charalambidou for the Presidency of the Parliament. The party representative’s response was sharp: “He is trying to convince us to be open to such an eventuality, but you see how he behaves.”
