Niels-Jakob Skade, one of the participants and co-initiator of the event, was moved as the race drew to a close.

– When I made sure that the event was coming to an end, I was overwhelmed with emotions and cried with joy, said Niels-Jakob Skade to AG.
He added that the ice was safe throughout the route.
– It is very good to run on the ice because it is so firm and without snow, says Niels-Jakob Skade.
The idea came from Siku Cross, who held a marathon on the ice in Uummannaq last year.
Niels-Jakob states that the half marathon on the ice in Qaanaaq is not the last event.
– We expect that we will organize the race again next year, under less freezing temperatures, around mid-April, concludes Niels-Jakob Skade.
