The American President, Donald Trump, has ordered the launch of investigations against one of his closest former allies, Richard Grenell.
As the medium “Axios” wrote, a “payment for influence” scheme has exploded in the White House for Trump. At the center of the report is an alleged instruction from Grenelli to the Turkish businessman, Turhan Mildon, in May of last year.
Grenell, then head of the Kennedy Center, told Mildon to transfer about $17 million to Texas Armament & Technology – of which about $6 million would go to the arts center.
“Once the money comes to the company here, I will arrange the donation to the ‘Kennedy Center,’ and you will join VIP events and be close to the administration, even the president of the United States of America,” Grenell’s message said, according to the report.
Grenelli has denied the claims, calling them false.
Mildon’s wife, lawyer Alina Habba, said that the “Kennedy Center” never received the donation.
It is reported that earlier this month she met with Trump about Grenell, according to “Axios” and “The New York Times”. The President then ordered the White House to immediately begin investigations.
Richard Grenell has served as Trump’s special emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, in the period 2019-2021.
