The Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) has announced that applications are now open for the Undergraduate Scholarship Programmes offered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for the 2027 academic year.
Eligibility criteria include undergraduate – a total score of 450 in the matriculation examination or a minimum of 60 per cent in internationally recognized exams; College of Technology & Specialized Training College Programmes – a total score of 420 in the matriculation examination or a minimum of 50 per cent in internationally recognized exams.
Detailed guidelines and application forms can be downloaded at https://www.studyinjapan.go.jp/en/. Only those currently residing in Myanmar are eligible to apply. Online registration (Google Form) must be completed between 22 April and 13 May. After registering online, hard copies must be submitted to the MAJA office between 14 and 21 May. Documents will not be accepted if the online registration was not completed within the deadline.
Eligible candidates will be announced on 22 May, and the written examination will be held on 30 May. Successful preliminary candidates will undergo further screening by the Embassy of Japan to Myanmar. Exam details will be sent via email on 27, 28, and 29 May.
