Parents who have enjoyed this year the paternity leave can be extended by two weeks when it enters into force Law for the promotion of equal treatment and opportunities between women and men in the workplace. The text will be approved on the 30th, it will be applied once it is published on Official Bulletinand will equalize maternal and paternal leave in 2030, with twenty weeks per head.
The rule states that this extension will have retroactive effects for cases in which the birth, adoption or foster care took place between January 1, 2026 and the entry into force of the law. This means that parents who have already used up their leave according to current regulations will still be able to benefit from the planned extension. to do so, they will have to notify the company of their willingness to accept it with a minimum of one month’s notice.
The project of law also incorporates a outstanding reinforcement of labor rights in matters of conciliation. In particular, it considers discriminatory – and, therefore, null and void – any non-causal dismissal that occurs as a result of the request for these permits. The measure assumes a shielding for workers that they exercise their right to reconciliation of family and work life. A section that until now was not explicitly provided for in the law and that gives guarantees to workers in order to be able to enjoy their rights.

The law also entrusts the Government that, in one year, do a study on how to increase the tourist tax in high season and how one might be applied vignette to foreign tourists.
