The Constitutional Court has declared admissible the request of the Democratic Party of Kosovo to contest the constitution of the Assembly after the constitutional deadline and the election of the new government.
The PDK on September 14 had asked the Constitutional Court to examine whether the constitution of the Assembly was made in accordance with the Constitution.
Today, less than 10 days after the submission of the complaint, the Constitutional Court found that the Assembly was constituted after the 30-day deadline set by the Constitution, and that the government elected afterwards is not in violation of the highest legal act of the state.
The Constitutional Court says that the 60-day deadline for the election of the President began on August 8, when the deadline for the constitution of the Assembly ended, and that the country must elect the new head of state no later than October 6. Otherwise, the country goes to new elections, which must be held within 45 days of this deadline.
