The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) has launched a new online course aimed at giving travel advisors the knowledge they need to promote and sell Dominica to travelers.
The destination training programme is being offered through Online Travel Training (OTT), an online platform serving professionals in the travel and tourism industry, as per a DDA press release.
DDA CEO Marva Williams said, “Travel advisors are important partners in connecting travelers with Dominica, particularly in our key source markets. This new course allows us to deepen their knowledge of the destination while expanding our reach among travel professionals who can confidently recommend Dominica to their clients.”
The self-paced course is currently available on OTT’s United States and United Kingdom platforms and provides travel professionals with information on Dominica’s seven tourism pillars: Adventure, Health & Wellness, Romance, Aqua, Culture, Events & Entertainment, Agro, and Kalinago.
The training highlights experiences across the island, including its rainforests, rivers, waterfalls and volcanic landscapes, along with diving and other marine activities, wellness offerings, and cultural and community-based experiences.
According to DDA, the course is designed to provide practical destination knowledge that advisors can use when recommending activities and developing itineraries based on their clients’ interests.
Travel professionals who successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate of Completion.
DDA plans to promote the course among travel professionals in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. It is also expected to become available through OTT’s France and Germany platforms as the authority expands its efforts to build a wider network of travel advisors familiar with Dominica.
The initiative forms part of DDA’s broader strategy to strengthen travel trade education and increase the island’s visibility among international travel professionals.
