Police arrested four men and recovered ammunition, cannabis and a stolen vehicle during operations across the Northern, North Central and North Central West divisions between September 17 and 19.
In the first incident, officers of the Northern North Division Task Force responded to a report of missiles being thrown at a house and at police along River Valley Road, La Retreat Road, Arima, shortly after midnight on September 18.
Police said officers observed rock-like objects being thrown from a bushy area on the eastern side of the roadway. When they entered the area, they saw a 23-year-old man from Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz, who fled.
The man was pursued and arrested in an unfinished structure a short distance away.
A search allegedly resulted in the recovery of four rounds of ammunition. The man was taken to the Arima Police Station.
Meanwhile, two men were arrested in connection with a robbery at a bank in Trincity.
Police said the victim was robbed of a black handbag containing $30,000 in cash, an Apple AirPod and other personal items.
Acting on information received, officers went to 15th Avenue, Oropune Gardens, Piarco, where they saw three men who reportedly matched the descriptions of the suspects.
The men fled at high speed into a forested area, prompting a police pursuit.
Two of the men were arrested. They were identified by police as a 30-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, both of Agostini Street, St Joseph.
The Arouca CID is continuing investigations.
In another operation, police seized 120 grammes of cannabis during a roving road check in the western area of the North Central Division on September 18.
The operation was conducted between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Police said officers searching a vehicle noticed a black plastic bag protruding from beneath a white wagon.
The bag was retrieved and allegedly contained two transparent bags with cannabis.
The occupants of the vehicle were detained.
Separately, one man was arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered during a V-TRAP operation in the Tunapuna and St Joseph districts.
At about 9:35 p.m. on September 18, officers allegedly saw a silver B15 reversing from a dead-end street with its lights off before turning west onto the Eastern Main Road, St Augustine, near Campus House.
Police said the rear passenger-side triangular glass was broken.
When officers attempted to make enquiries, the vehicle allegedly sped away, resulting in a pursuit. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a stationary vehicle along St Augustine Circular Road.
The suspect fled into a bushy area leading towards a rocky river west of Cumberbatch Lane.
Police eventually arrested him on Pasea Street, St Augustine.
Checks allegedly revealed that the vehicle’s ignition had been tampered with and the rear passenger-side glass was broken.
Further checks showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Mc Inroy Street, Curepe, on September 12.
The vehicle was taken to the Tunapuna Police Station, while the suspect was taken to the Maloney Police Station.
