Cross-border trading, tax dossiers and EU Association Agreement are the topics covered. Awarded honor
SAN MARINO – “A political passage of profound substance”. This is how the note from the Secretariat of State for Finance defines it. “The path of European integration undertaken by the Titan finds its natural pivot in the historic link with Rome. The official visit made today to the Republic of San Marino by the Italian Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Maurizio Leo certifies a now consolidated multi-level agreement. Doing the honors at Palazzo Begni in the early hours of the morning were the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari and the Secretary of State for Finance and Budget Marco Gatti. Also present at the high-level meeting were the Secretaries of State for Industry Rossano Fabbri and for healthcare Massimo Andrea Ugolini. The summit placed the new horizon opened by the Association Agreement with the European Union at the center of the discussion, a framework within which financial and fiscal cooperation between the two States is placed and strengthened. In this general framework, the dossiers linked to cross-border workers and the social security treatment of pensioners will also find an orderly arrangement, destined to be gradually recomposed within the harmonization of community regulatory models.
The dialogue extended in the afternoon to discussions with the trade union organizations (CDLS, CSDL, USL) and representatives of the Interregional Trade Union Council (CSIR). A useful moment of listening to measure the concrete effects of institutional convergence. The push towards the single European market requires operational protections for the productive and social fabric, favoring a climate of legal certainty capable of overcoming the residual complexities of the past.
“Maurizio Leo’s presence on Titan testifies to the level of reputation and reliability built up over these years,” declares Marco Gatti. “The Association Agreement with the European Union redefines the coordinates of our growth and the partnership with Italy constitutes its fundamental pillar. We want to eliminate any uncertainty that penalizes citizens and businesses, guaranteeing certain protections for our workers and pensioners”.
In mid-afternoon the work moved to Palazzo Pubblico. The senator of the Italian Republic was also present awaiting the arrival of the delegation Sunday Spinelli. His presence underlined the profound continuity of the Italian parliamentary commitment on tax dossiers linked to Titan, a work that began in 2023 with the first amending proposals to find solutions to different interpretations of the two tax administrations on pension benefits.
“Welcoming the delegation here, in the heart of the San Marino institutions, gives the measure of the work carried out in recent years,” underlines Domenica Spinelli. “Politics must be able to solve real problems. Today we are marking a further step in a path shared with Deputy Minister Leo and Secretary Gatti. The next technical tables will represent the operational test bed to transform political sensitivity into stable and definitive regulatory solutions, far from announcements or speculation”.
The day ended in the Sala dei XII with the solemn audience granted by the Captains Regent Alice Mina And Vladimiro Selva. As part of the ceremony, Maurizio Leo was awarded the Honor of the Equestrian Order of Saint Agatha in the rank of Knight Grand Cross. The honor recognizes the constant commitment made in consolidating the bond of mutual trust between the two Republics”, they conclude from Palazzo Begni.
