The leader of Concordia, Cerni Escalé, and the president of the PS, Peter Baronthey questioned this Thursday the welfare nature of the measure announced by the Government so that citizens do not allocate more than 30% of their income to paying rent. During the control session at the General Council, Escalé warned that the aid may end up financing income increases and generate more inflation in the housing market.
The leader of Concord has assured that studies on similar programs point to increases in prices and has warned of the risk of creating a dependency on public aid while there is not enough public housing. “We are about to provide assistance to a huge part of society”he affirmed, while defending that it is necessary to act on prices and supply.
In the same vein, baron has qualified the measure of “electoralist” and has considered that it can encourage owners to increase rents.
