Construction of the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) Ltd.’s new La Salette Branch at Pointe Michel is progressing ahead of schedule, with significant work already completed since the project broke ground earlier this year.
In a press release, NCCU said construction has advanced from the foundation stage to the erection of walls and concrete columns, while steel reinforcement and formwork are now being placed at the first-floor level.
The project officially got underway with a groundbreaking ceremony on January 7, 2026.
NCCU Project Manager Hillarian Jules said the pace of construction has kept the project ahead of the contractor’s schedule.
“We look at the work schedule of the contractor and we are still three weeks ahead of schedule so a lot of work has been done. We are all pleased with the quality and speed of the work… The building on a whole is really a flagship for NCCU. It will be outfitted with modern [amenities and aesthetics],” Jules said.
NCCU said Phase One is expected to be completed by April 2027, while the two-storey facility is projected to be substantially completed by the end of 2027.
The second phase will involve electrical and plumbing works, along with the installation of the building’s information technology infrastructure. NCCU said those works are expected to be completed in keeping with the contractor’s schedule.
The new branch is being designed as a modern facility with several amenities aimed at improving access and convenience for members.
For the first time at the branch, the facility will have an ATM and night safe deposit. Solar panels will also be installed to provide backup power.
Other features will include a member lobby, a lower-level counter intended to accommodate senior citizens and persons with disabilities, as well as a sick bay for staff.
NCCU said the development is bringing the credit union closer to establishing a modern branch facility to serve members in Pointe Michel and surrounding communities.
The construction is being undertaken by RoyC Real Estate & Construction Company, which NCCU identified as the project contractor.
The credit union said the progress so far represents another step toward completing the new La Salette Branch and expanding its facilities in the community.
