The cultural center the lagoon welcomes up to September 25 the exhibition ‘Women who make the gradea project that recovers and highlights the career of women who have often been left out of the official narrative of music history, by the hand of Cristina Gallart Balañá. The exhibition was officially opened this Monday evening and during the event the councilor of Procedures, Taxes and Debtors ofAndorra la Vella, Susagna Mosquitohas explained that it has been a job “of a little more than two years” that the artist has done, in collaboration with the municipality of Andorra and other institutions, “especially to claim the role of women in the world of music”. according to Flycatcher, “it’s about claiming 25 stories explaining the importance of these women, who were performers, creators, all related to the world of music, and basically, vindicating, above all, the role of women, because they were a little relegated and their story was a little covered up”.
The exhibition can be seen until September 25from Monday to Friday, during the opening hours of the lacuna. According to the councillor, the response they expect from the public “is that they enjoy each and every one of the 25 stories”. Attendees will have a small QR in which each story is accompanied by a piece of music that they can listen to and a brief explanation of the story of each of the women.
The project was born from the desire to recover the memory of female composers who contributed decisively to the history of music.
The ‘Women who give the grade’ sample is completed with a book which collects the biographies of 25 women linked to musical creation, from the Middle Ages to the present day. It also incorporates recordings made by students and teachers of the Conservatory of Music of Andorra la Vellawhich allow you to listen to some of the works of the composers who appear there.
