The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Ardian Gola, reacted to Agon Maliqi, who spoke to Reuters, about the Hague’s decision on September 16.
Maliqi has said that if Thaçi is found innocent and released, this could shift the balance of power in Kosovo politics more towards his pro-Western opposition party and restore confidence in further cooperation with the West for regional security.
To him, Gola reacted that, according to him, “it is irritating”, that an intellectual and political stance on the trial of the former leaders of the KLA, connects it with developments in the political scene in Kosovo.
“Any stance, whether political or intellectual, that connects the trial of the current four in The Hague with the political scene in Kosovo is very irritating. Their return is unfortunately seen as strengthening one political wing to the detriment of the other, as if the issue was part of the internal party rivalry. Meanwhile, what is happening in that court does not treat the defendants as either PDK or LV. The problem is not the political balance in Kosovo. Understand this. The international position of the Kosovo state and the way it is being treated is a fundamental part of its recent history,” said Gola, among other things. /Express newspaper
