PSU President Dean Flowers says he cannot explain the delay, but he is questioning the judgment of those leading the Belize Tax Services Department and the Ministry of Finance. Flowers claims supporters of the proposed Semi-Autonomous Revenue Authority have simply run out of arguments to justify it.

“What I can say to you is that the Public Service Union has put out plainly that the leadership of the Belize Tax Service Department and the leadership of the Ministry Finance don’t know what the hell they are doing and they are contradicting themselves ever time they make a statement. And we have been able to take the law, put it beside what they are saying, take their figures put it beside what they are proposing and we have been able to show that these people are misguided and they have misinformed Cabinet that supported that bill. I am challenging the Director of Belize Tax Service Department to respond to those letters that we have put out. They have ran out of those argument, completely ran out of arguments to justify what they cannot justify, what is unjustifiable. It cannot be that there will be greater efficiency in the Belize Tax Services Department.”
