On Thursday, September 10, the President of the National People’s Assembly, Khalida Bouvdesh, received at the Assembly’s headquarters the Ambassador of the United States of Mexico to Algeria, José Ignacio Madrazo Bolivar.
According to what the Council reported in a statement, at the beginning of the meeting, the Mexican ambassador expressed his thanks to the President of the Council for the warm reception, expressing his pride in this meeting, which he described as historic, as it was his first meeting with the first Algerian woman to assume the presidency of the National People’s Assembly.
As for Boufdesh, for her part, she stressed that Algeria attaches special importance to its relations with Mexico due to their mutual friendship and appreciation, and praised the strong historical ties that contributed to establishing these relations.
It was agreed during the meeting on the need to enhance communication and exchange expertise and experiences, which contributes to consolidating bilateral relations and opening new horizons for cooperation.
The importance of establishing and activating two parliamentary friendship groups and intensifying the exchange of visits was also stressed, to deepen dialogue and rapprochement between the two sides.
The meeting also discussed, according to the same statement, a number of issues of common interest, as consensus emerged regarding a number of principles that govern diplomatic work, most notably respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and respect for human rights, in addition to the importance of dialogue and cooperation as a way to address international crises and challenges.
On the economic level, the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation was emphasized, as the investment climate created by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s reforms was reviewed, and the promising opportunities that Algeria offers for partnerships and investments were noted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing efforts aimed at developing Algerian-Mexican relations.
