The parents demand that the law be retroactively enforced, so that in 2025 the soldiers of the summer draft will also serve for 1.5 years. With that demand, they again gathered in front of the government building. The point is that with the legislative changes, it is mandatory reduction of the term of military servicefrom 24 months to 18 months, starting from the winter draft of 2025, but these changes do not apply to servicemen already in service, which is not fair according to parents.
“According to the adopted law, 24 months have been replaced by 18, we ask that it also affect all conscripts in 2025. We consider it discrimination because the reasons for the change are not clear,” a parent told reporters.
Another parent reported that they were offered to convey the proposals and demands in writing and wait for a written answer. “But we are tired of writing letters. We want some official to accept us, but no one is doing it,” he said.
One lady also emphasized that they only demand justice and equality towards the soldiers, especially as it relates to the difference in terms of conscripts studying in the same class.
One of the mothers participating in the demonstration also mentioned that they want the law to be given retroactive force. “We demand that the term of servicemen for the summer of 2025 be changed, we want them to meet and negotiate with us.”
Let’s add that on April 3, the parents gathered near the building of the RA Ministry of Defense with the same demand, but for now their issue remains pending.
