This Monday Panama achieved a new medal in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 in the taekwondo category.
The medal came from the hand of the athlete Ian Romero, who won the bronze medal by beating the Puerto Rican Luis De Jesús 2-0 in the 68 kilograms (kg), reported the Panama Olympic Committee.
Romero’s medal is added to those obtained by the athlete Némesis Candelo, who won gold in the 52 kg judo category, and Kristine Jiménez, who won the bronze medal.
This Monday’s day for Panama culminated with the participation of Brenda Brooks, who was beaten at 57 kg in the quarterfinals 0-2 by Andrea Delgado, from Puerto Rico.
In judo, José Luis Ortega, who in the 90 kg, was surpassed by the Mexican Diego Díaz for the bronze medal.
Likewise, César Castillo, in the 100 kg, was surpassed in the quarterfinals by the Colombian Francisco Balanta.
The mixed archery teams made up of Gisela Cowan Chang and Liborio Saavedra were beaten 0-6 by Mexico.
Surfer Agustín Cedeño qualifies for the Longboard final after finishing first in his Round 3 heat with 13 points.
The final will be played on July 29 against the Mexican Jonathan Melendres.
