A man has been charged after several cars were torched at the home of a Scarborough MP last week, Toronto police say.
Roshvin Crofton, 24, was arrested Sunday. He is charged with arson causing damage to property, mischief over $5,000, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of incendiary material, and failure to comply with probation order, police said in a news release Friday.
A 2025 Hyundai Sonata, believed to be involved in the incident, was also seized. Police are looking for information on where the vehicle was in the days before the alleged arson.
Police say they are searching for a second suspect as well.
The alleged arson occurred in the driveway of Liberal MP Salma Zahid’s home. Zahid represents the federal riding of Scarborough Centre-Don Valley East.

Police say an “unknown suspect” approached the vehicles in the driveway early on Aug. 27, poured an accelerant on them and ignited two vehicles, causing them to catch fire, before fleeing the scene.
A third vehicle was damaged from the flames, police said.
Zahid welcomes arrest, says no word on motive
Zahid thanked Toronto police in a statement released Friday, shortly after they announced the arrest.
“I welcome word of an arrest and charges related to the arson incident outside my home on August 27th, and news the police are seeking an additional suspect in relation to this case,” she said.
“As the investigation is ongoing, we still do not have information with regards to a motive for this incident.”
Zahid, a Liberal backbencher, has been an MP for Scarborough Centre since 2015. She currently chairs the standing committee on science and research and is the vice-chair of the Canada-China legislative association.
The incident drew condemnation from numerous politicians, including Prime Minister Mark Carney.
