Middle-aged men continue to constitute the largest bloc of the prison population in St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Superintendent of Prisons Dwayne Bailey, shared the July 2026 prison statistics during the closing ceremony of the High Court Criminal Assizes on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The official prison status report, prepared for High Court Judge Justice Rickie Burnett, details that the current inmate population consists of 383 men and seven women.
Of the 383 men, 86 are between the ages of 40 and 49, constituting 22 percent of the male population. Following close behind are inmates within the 30 to 35 age range, numbering 76 men, or 20 percent of the male population.
