Prime Minister Mia Mottley has extended congratulations to Jamaica as the Caribbean nation celebrates its 64th anniversary of Independence, praising its global cultural influence and reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Bridgetown and Kingston.

In a message shared on Thursday, Mottley conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, as well as in her personal capacity, to Jamaicans at home and abroad.“Jamaica has made an unmistakable contribution to Caribbean civilisation and the world,” she said.“Your culture has travelled far beyond your shores without ever losing the spirit of home, reminding us of what Caribbean people can achieve when we remain confident in who we are.”The Prime Minister said Barbados values its enduring relationship with Jamaica, noting that both countries, as small island developing states, share a commitment to protecting their identity and securing a better future for their people.She also referenced Jamaica’s National Anthem, quoting the line, “Justice, Truth be ours forever,” and expressed the hope that those words would continue to guide the country’s development.“Barbados celebrates with you today and wishes you continued progress and prosperity. Happy Independence Day, Jamaica, and may the Eternal Father continue to bless your land,” Mottley said.
