The United States is winning the war with Iran “by a wide margin,” despite what some American media may say, US President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social social network.
In a series of posts, he said Washington would continue the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz until Tehran agreed to a deal.
“We are winning the war by a wide margin, things are going very well, our armed forces are amazing, and if you read fake news… you might actually think we are losing the war,” he wrote, accusing The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post of spreading false information.
Regarding the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, he noted that Iran was losing “500 million dollars a day.” Since the start of the war with the United States and Israel, Tehran has severely restricted transit through this strategic waterway through attacks and threats, causing energy prices to rise.
After failed negotiations between the US and Iran, Washington announced a blockade of Iranian ports to prevent Tehran from collecting shipping fees and limit its oil revenues.
“The Iranian leadership has directed hundreds of ships to the United States, especially Texas, Louisiana and Alaska, to get their oil – Thank you very much!” added Trump.
In the posts, he declared that he was “under no pressure” to strike a deal with Tehran. He declared that the deal the countries are currently negotiating will be “much better” than the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA). The United States withdrew from it in 2018 during Trump’s first term.
According to experts, after the US withdrew from this agreement, Iran significantly accelerated its uranium enrichment program. But the president insisted on Monday that the JCPOA represented a “guaranteed path to nuclear weapons,” which he said Tehran would use throughout the Middle East.
“If a deal is made under (the Trump administration), it will guarantee peace, security and safety not only for Israel and the Middle East, but also for Europe, America and everywhere else. It will be something the whole world will be proud of,” he added.
The US president has reiterated that all of Iran’s naval, air and defense capabilities have been essentially destroyed.
