A NEW EXECUTIVE HAS been elected to run the affairs of the Bequia Basketball Association (BBA),for 2026-2028 term following its annual general meeting on Wednesday, July, 22, 2026 at the Clive Tannis Hard Court.
Sabrina Mitchell, who has served as president since the establishment of the BBA in 1999,was re-elected for another term. A release from the BBA said under Mitchell’s leadership the association has become one of the country’s leading community sports organisations, developing many young athletes.
The other members of the executive are: Steveon Taylor, vice president, Colson Peters, treasurer; Reba Ollivierre, general secretary; games secretary, Keithroy Lavia; players’ representative, Dr. Ashborne Phillips; public relations officer, Ella Mitchell-Sutton; assistant games secretary, Jermaine John; assistant treasurer/ secretary, Natisha Hazell; and committee members in Kirsta Bailey, Jadley Bynoe, Denroy Hutchins, Jemuel Hutchins, and Lennox Ince.
The BBA said the meeting provided members with an opportunity to reflect on recent achievements while outlining priorities for the next two years. Key discussions centered on preparations for the 24th annual Bequia Basketball Tournament that is set to open on August 1, 2026; the hosting of referee development clinics; and expanding the Association’s youth basketball programme.
President Mitchell expressed confidence in the newly elected executive and its vision for the association, and made a note of seeing more women taking on leadership roles within sports.
The Bequia Basketball Association said it looks forward to an exciting term highlighted by the return of its annual tournament, continued investment in player and official development, and strengthening partnerships that support the growth of basketball across Bequia and the Grenadines.
