Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2 convened an informal meeting of the Secretariat of the Cambodia–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC). The meeting began at 11:00am at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Border Checkpoint.
According to Maly Socheata, spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia, the informal meeting took place on this morning, with delegations from both countries participating in discussions aimed at strengthening coordination along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, Head of the Cambodian RBC Secretariat, while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Kampanat Waphansu, Head of the Thai RBC Secretariat.

During the meeting, both sides discussed promoting the continued and effective implementation of the Joint Statement of the third special meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) issued on December 27, year.
The discussion also focused on strengthening informal operational coordination and improving mechanisms for resolving local border issues through cooperation between the RBC secretariats representing Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2.
The Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm and sincere commitment to fully respect and faithfully implement the outcomes of the third special GBC meeting as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on October 26, last year.
The ministry emphasised that these commitments are aimed at ensuring a peaceful, just, and lasting resolution to border-related matters in accordance with international law and existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.
