BURNSIDE — DP was arrested by police officers at the Burnside checkpoint for theft of a moped, the Suriname Police Corps writes on its website. After coordination with the Public Prosecution Service, the 43-year-old suspect was taken into custody by the police. The moped has been seized in the interest of further investigation.
Sixteen-year-old SH reported the theft to the Nieuw-Nickerie police on Monday. He stated that he had left his moped at his workplace on Sint Jozefstraat. However, upon returning to his workplace he discovered that it had been taken away.
The next day DP was stopped at the Burnside checkpoint. The moped was identified as the teenager’s stolen vehicle. The suspect was then immediately handcuffed.
