West Indies Oil Company Limited (WIOC) has paid tribute to veteran Dominican businessman McMillan Jno-Baptiste following his death, describing him as an exemplary businessman whose dedication to serving the people of Dominica left an enduring legacy. Jno-Baptiste, owner of the two McMillan Service Stations in Dominica, operated what WIOC said was the longest-serving dealership in its retail network across Antigua and Barbuda and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
In a tribute issued on behalf of the company’s Board of Directors, management and staff, WIOC extended its deepest condolences to Jno-Baptiste’s family, friends and loved ones. The company noted that his association with WIOC began in 1972 and spanned more than five decades of dedicated service. Throughout that time, it said, he earned the admiration and respect of generations through his unwavering commitment to customer service and became a household name in Dominica.
“Quite simply, Mr. Mac put the service in his service stations,” the tribute stated.
WIOC Chief Executive Officer Gregory F. Georges said Jno-Baptiste’s legacy extends far beyond the petroleum industry. He described him as a man defined by integrity, resilience, humility and generosity, adding that the business he built, the community he served and the many lives he touched would ensure his memory lives on. Georges also reflected on a personal visit with Jno-Baptiste just five weeks before his passing, recalling a warm conversation about his upbringing in Roseau and his years at the Roseau Boys School alongside Georges’ father and uncle. He said the discussion was filled with enthusiasm, laughter and treasured memories.
Georges expressed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the entire WIOC family, offering prayers for strength and peace for Jno-Baptiste’s family during their time of bereavement.
