The persistent heat of the last few days has highlighted the difficulties faced by the public transport vehicles to guarantee thermal comfort inside, especially in the warmest hours during the middle of the day. Following the complaint that the diary received from a user, assuring that since the month of June incidences are constantand that nothing had been done to solve it despite repeated warnings to the driver, it was found that the air conditioning works irregularly. In general, however, it is not because the driver does not turn on the air, but because of factors such as the type of journey with many stops, because the full power of the air conditioner is needed, or due to occasional breakdowns. This is how they explained it manager of Coopalsa, Gabriel Dallerès and the general manager of Autocars Nadal, Bartumeu Gabriel.
Dallerès he explains that at this time there can be malfunctions, but he emphasizes that “when errors are detected, they are corrected. We have between 10 and 12 mechanics dedicated to solving problems”, he guarantees. In this sense, he points out that the gases that produce the cold often have to be recharged. And in any case, it explains that if user complaints are received, it is investigated if it is a problem of the operation of the air conditioning, that the driver has not switched it on and whether there may be any negligence.
Company representatives also emphasize the fact that the bus doors are opened several times. “Hot air comes in and it feels like there’s no cold air,” he points out Dallerès. “It may be working, but by opening and closing doors every time it is difficult to maintain it”, he emphasizes Gabrielwho adds that when the bus ends the line, the air system stops and then the cooling takes a few minutes to notice.
On the other hand, the director of Autocars Nadal warns that the fact that many people open the windows also makes it difficult for the cold air to consolidate inside the bus. In addition, he indicates that, with these temperatures, “the winds are very strong, and it is very difficult to meet the customer’s expectation“, at the same time that it is counterproductive to put the air to maximum power. “Cars work long hours and things happen. In the summer and when it’s hotter, it’s when you notice more that there is some kind of dysfunction”, he says Dallerès
