The UWI Seismic Research Centre (UWI Seismic) has confirmed that two earthquakes shook Trinidad and Tobago before 7 o’clock this morning, with one quake being felt in Trinidad as far south as San Fernando, and as far east as Arima and Scarborough in Tobago.
In its social media pages, UWI Seismic reports that the first quake of magnitude 5.1, occurred at 5:45 am (local time), at latitude 11.35 degrees north and longitude 60.60 degrees west.
Its depth is said to be at 59 kilometres.

It was felt in Scarborough, Tobago, which was 24 km north-east of the epicentre; Arima, Trinidad, some 109 km north-east of the epicentre, and Port of Spain, Trinidad, 126 km north-east of the epicentre.
The second quake of magnitude 5.0, occurred at 6:55 am (local time), at latitude 10.97 degrees north and longitude 62.05 degrees west.
Its depth is said to be at 80 kilometres.

It was felt mainly in Trinidad in Port of Spain, some 69 km north-west of the epicentre; in Arima, 93 km north-west of the epicentre; and San Fernando, 103 km north-west of the epicentre.
