PORT OF SPAIN, CMC – Trinidadian Kervon Noel was extradited to the United States earlier this week to face charges of armed robbery and conspiracy, more than a decade after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Maryland.
Authorities said Noel is wanted on two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy stemming from a November 2014 warrant.
He was released on bond at the time and ordered to appear in court in December 2014, but failed to do so after fleeing to Trinidad and Tobago.
A formal extradition request was made by US authorities in January 2026, and Noel was subsequently arrested in Port of Spain on February 11.
He later consented to extradition, and on April 13, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs John Jeremie signed the warrant authorising his removal.
Noel was transported to the United States under escort by the US Marshals Service, along with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service.
Several agencies from both countries were involved in the operation, including the US Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, US Customs and Border Protection, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Montgomery County Police, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, and local immigration and airport authorities.
US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Dr Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz said the extradition highlights strong cooperation between US and Trinidad and Tobago law enforcement, noting that such collaboration ensures individuals accused of serious crimes are brought to justice.
If convicted, Noel faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each count of armed robbery.
