Will next Saturday be the first day he dances with the Esbart Santa Anna dance troupe?
Yes, it’s the first time! I’m very excited. I felt very good in the tests. I face the show with good feelings and with the desire to go on stage.
Since when is he linked to Esbart?
From a very young age. I started dancing when I was about five years old with the children’s and youth section, but I stopped when I was 12 and didn’t get back into it until a few years later. Dance has formed and is part of my life.
If I may, how did it fold?
At that time I folded for football, and recently I have gone the opposite way: I left football to go back to dancing.
What repertoire will you present at Prat del Roure?
The show, Mosaic of traditions, proposes a journey through various places in Andorra and our surroundings through dance. Each dance tells a story. There will be six pieces: Santa Anna’s Day, with choreography by Rafa Martín; Ais de l’anima, by Ivan Betancourt; Aigües d’Escaldes, also by Ivan Betancourt; Marina, by Albert Sans; a premiere, Temps medievals, based on the song Sansonette, by the group Do Natural, and choreographed by Rafa Martín, and Mallorca, also choreographed by Rafa Martín.
How are the last rehearsals going before the festival?
This next week will be very intense, with rehearsals every day from the afternoon to the evening, but on Wednesday we will be able to rest. We are about 25 dancers, with some 16, 17 and 18-year-olds who have joined us to help the adults. We usually rehearse two days each week.
What is the best thing about being a member of Esbart? What is the most valuable thing you found there?
Esbart is like a second family. The camaraderie there is hard to find elsewhere. It is a very enriching activity from several points of view. You learn things there, starting with the choreographies. But we also laugh a lot. It’s a good way to pass the time.
Entities like Esbart Santa Anna are irreplaceable, since there are not many associations that work for the transmission of traditions.
This is also a very important role of the entity. We have the responsibility to make this legacy known to new generations so that it is not lost and has continuity in the future. It is a part of the country’s culture.
