🟢 THE GOOD 🟡 NEITHER BAD NOR GOOD 🔴 THE BAD
The first class of 2026 of El Comercio’s school correspondents has already begun to publish their journalistic notes, which give a voice to the children of Peru. This group is made up of 220 young reporters from 44 schools across the country. With their notes, which were developed in the electoral stage, they put issues from relevant sectors such as education, health or security on the agenda. Since the return of the program in 2021, 3,400 girls and boys have become school correspondents.
Concern about the economic effects of the El Niño phenomenon reaches different sectors, such as fishing. This sector contributed more than S/25,000 million in 2025, equivalent to 2.1% of GDP, according to a study by Apoyo Consultoría for the National Fisheries Society. However, due to the impact of El Niño, its contribution to GDP could fall to 1.5% during 2026 in a moderate scenario, and to 1% in an extreme case, in which up to 78,000 jobs could be lost compared to 2025.
José Nenil Medina Guerrero was mayor of Anguía (Chota, Cajamarca) and a questioned character close to Pedro Castillo and his government until mid-2022 when he was arrested for a case of alleged criminal organization, corruption and money laundering that Eficcop was investigating. Now it is the letter of Together for Peru (JP) for governor of Cajamarca. Although he was released in January 2025, rules of conduct still apply to him, such as the prohibition on changing his address in Carabayllo (Lima).
