An agreement to provide a preferential loan in the amount of 10 million euros aimed at implementing a project to renovate the State Institution “Republican Oncology Research Center” was signed in Dushanbe.
An agreement on a preferential loan between Tajikistan and the Export-Import Bank of Austria was signed on April 21 between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Austrian financial organization, reported by the Ministry of Finance Tajikistan.
The funds will be used to equip the center with modern diagnostic equipment made in Europe and improve the skills of specialists in the field of oncology.
The state institution “Republican Oncology Research Center” in Dushanbe is one of the country’s leading medical institutions in the field of oncology.

According to available official data, the modern center was formed as the Republican Oncology Research Center as a result of the reorganization of the oncology service during the late 1980s, when the Oncology Institute was transformed into a Republican Research Center.
In 2006, by decree of the government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republican Clinical Oncology Center was transformed into the State Institution Oncological Research Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan (SE ONC Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan).
It is worth noting that in the first six months of 2025, 2,742 new cases of cancer were identified in Tajikistan.
According to the Ministry of Health, among new patients, 61.7% are women, and 38.3% are men. The incidence of breast and stomach cancer is growing, while at the end of 2024, more than 21 thousand people were registered.
